I am no spring chicken. What doesΒ  it mean - I am no spring chicken.Β Β 

The other day I went for a run with my brotherΒ  and realised he couldn’t even run for 2 miles,Β Β 

he started gasping for breath.Β  It means he’s no longer young.

After taking the stairs, IΒ  realised I am no spring chicken.

Instead of saying I am no longer young,Β  you could say - I am no spring chicken.

At no 5 I have - Bright young things.Β  This phrase is usually used to refer toΒ 

People who are young, enthusiastic,Β  fashionable and ambitious.Β Β 

In short young people who are full ofΒ  energy with great plans for the future.

Listening to the ideas of the brightΒ  young things at the start-up seminar,Β Β 

made me realise that theΒ  country is filled with talent.

Here’s another one - In the primeΒ  of my life. In the prime of my life.Β Β 

When Someone is at their bestΒ  - They are healthy, successful,Β Β 

content with life or at the peak of their career.Β  You can say - they are in the prime of their life.

I’ve just turned 35, and I’m in the prime ofΒ  my life. I always go to the gym after work.

Well, if you stay healthy, you willΒ  always be in the prime of your life.Β Β

The next phrase is quite interesting - TwilightΒ  years, what do you mean by twilight years.Β 

Twilight means the time after the sunset before itΒ  gets dark, or the short time before the sunrise.Β Β 

The soft glowing light you see in the skyΒ  when the sun is below the horizon. Here,Β Β 

twilight years refers to -TheΒ  last years of someone’s life.

Maria and Peter spent theirΒ  twilight years travelling the world.

Have your parents ever told you To comeΒ  of age and then take the car keys? Well,Β Β 

it means to reach maturity orΒ  have legal rights as adults.

As soon as teenagers come of age,Β  they rush to get a driving licence.

Next up - A ripe old age. A ripe old age.Β Β 

It's pretty easy to understand, it meansΒ  A Very old age. Someone who is very old.

I was surprised to see them gettingΒ  married at the ripe old age of 82.

The next phrase is the exact opposite to theΒ  previous one - A tender age, you guessed it right,Β Β 

it means - A very young age.

Sally first sang on stage at the tender age of 7.Β 

Some gifted children have more advancedΒ  abilities than others at a tender age.

I am sure you have heard about the 7-year-old ZoraΒ  Ball, who developed a full mobile app video game.Β Β 

Another example is Ayush aged 10,Β Β 

who became the youngest app developerΒ  at Apple’s Developer Conference.
