Hi friends I am back with a new lesson. Well! it's a nice day today.
its / it's a nice day so did I mean
its a nice day or it's a nice day
well here is the confusion for the simple reason
that it ( apostrophe) s and its that means without an apostrophe
both sound the same but well they have
totally completely different meanings their usage is completely different
so don't even try to interchange them or use them interchangeably
okay so what is it(apostrophe) +s
and what is its . Well It(apostrophe)s
is a pronoun it + is so it is a contraction
so when you contract it + is becomes it's.
okay like present tense it is and its without an apostrophe
and also used as a possessive pronoun well now we are going to learn the difference
it's and its that means without an apostrophe
so let's see the first one it's quite hot today
so when I say it's quite hot it means it is
Alright Now if I write Its it would not make
any sense - its I mean what possession
are we talking about so when I want to say it is quite hot today
it is, so remember this is a contraction of it+is
well so my pet is very happy so the dog is wagging its tail
now we have is as the verb the dog if wagging its tail
but if you see there is It without
an apostrophe so the dog is wagging its
always shows possession don't get confused because they both
you know its and it's sound same the pronunciation is same
but remember this always shows possession
now imagine if I'm gonna use it's here would it even make sense
it is tail. No it would not make any sense
so remember it's tail the dogs tail, alright
this shows possession okay the next sentence It's going to rain
the weather is dark and gloomy and
people feel lethargic so well my Dog the dog is sleeping
on its mat again sleeping on its mat, mat is the noun
its is showing possession so it becomes possessive adjective
Now here again I can't use on it is mat it would not make any sense
so well its mat it shows possession, okay
the next example- It's a big jar.
or I can even say - The jar is big, okay
its lid is loose the lid is loose its lid
why do I say its without an apostrophe because I'm showing the lid belongs to
the jar I'm bringing about a possession
so remember its is showing possession over here you use it without
an apostrophe well as usual if you add an apostrophe
it would not make any sense to the sentence so I hope you understood so far
let's take a look at the last sentence it's too far to travel
Well I'm talking about a place , It's too far
it will not make sense, its too far, No It's too far to travel so it's too far to
well even if I decide to go the car has four tyres
one of its tyres is loose now one of its tyres
one of its that means - one of the cars tyre
is flat so that shows possession
so this also shows possession I cannot use it's
because that would not make any sense
is a contraction which means it +is
adjective which is used to show possession
for a noun and it comes without an apostrophe
well this brings me to an end of this lesson
I hope you enjoyed watching it and now I know and I'm sure your confusion is all gone
well just to be a little more sure do take a test
do let me know your scores. I'll be back soon with a new lesson till then
